Click to view attachmentAreva generator on Long Lane at Marticville Road.

Two traffic pole arms had to be totally removed and placed on lawns. Then, because of height, a linesman had to hoist the utility lines higher than the height of the generators.

Men on either end of each generator were controlling the movement with a computer generated system.

Ply wood was laid on the road surface at the intersection to protect the road.

Thanks for sharing your pictures Kate!

You've got to wonder how much simpler life would be if our utility companies ran their lines underground.

They'd be better protected from the weather and other damage causing issues, they wouldn't be in the way, the world would be much less cluttered. Wishful thinking, I know... but it makes one wonder.

I think most new lines are underground. Most of the lines on poles have been there for decades. You`re right though. We have all underground on our road and we rarely lose power.Maybe only two or three times for more than 10 mins in the 30+years living here.

I'm guessing either next Tuesday or Wednesday. Monday they will be going from Rock Hill and traveling to Highville Fire Co for that night.

They will be going over the Rt 30 bridge during the night, probably next Wednesday into Thursday.

The realy fun will be going up Chiques Hill................

On Monday I took a friend's elderly mother to Safe Harbor Park to view the generators. While we were there a group of school children arrived from Carter McRae Elementary School with their principal Ollie Jones.

A public relations spokesperson for Ariva took the time to educate the children on nuclear energy.

The generators had to be separated from their trailer so the axels could be widened to spread the load more evenly on the bridge. Penn DOT bridge inspectors closely inspected the underside of the bridge and were expected to inspect the bridge throughout the crossing.

I had to leave prior to the first generator crossing the bridge. The second generator will undergo the same procedure prior to crossing this bridge today.

Safe Harbor Park was packed with onlookers of all ages.

Love the pictures Kate. This move is like a slow motion parade. Lot of people seem to be enjoying it.
