When did government become a charity?
When did keeping what you work for become a crime?
When did paying taxes ever become patriotic? Certainly not because Joe Biden says so.
Who gets to determine what a comfortable living style is?
I'm sure if you have ever lived in a 3rd world county (& I have) you would see the "average person" living in a 1 room mud brick house with a thatch or corrugated tin roof, feeling lucky they have that. Are you that comfortable? Are YOU hording YOUR RICHES when these people are in such dire need?
We've long been a charity. Giving to third world countries in a combined spirit of care and politcal leverage is standard.
I don't mind paying a fair share of taxes because I'm aware of all the services that are being provided to me by the government.
A large portion of our taxes go toward paying for our military. I think it's a bit too much, but Americans seem to want a strong military with the latest expensive gadgets. Is it not patriotic to want our interests and way of life protected? Personally, I'm happy to see some of my taxes going toward maintaining national parks. Is that not patriotic?
A comfortable lifestyle is one that allows you to keep a roof over your head while staying up with required safety codes, having enough money for nutricious foods, having affordable heath insurance, maintaining a car, and having some left over to go on the occasional vacation. Anything extra helps the economy, but isn't totally necessary.
I've seen conditions in third world countries. There's little I can do because the cause isn't lack of money, it's lack of sustainability due to overpopulation, poor resources, or having a government that is corrupt or can't provide safety nets. We have safety nets here, but there are still many people who fall through and poverty is a pervasive problem here at home. You may feel sorry for those who have little in other countries, but you have a shabby attitude if you would deny our own poor if it means our government using your tax dollars.
