What a great job mothering this woman is doing! Helping so many, teaching her daughter compassion. Thanks so much to both of them. I am miraculously 'off' this Saturday and may have to visit the Quarryville Library just for a chance to meet them. We need to see more of this kind of thing! And I hope more people follow suit.

YOU CAN HELP BOTH HUMANS AND ANIMALS!!! You don't have to pick and choose!

This article is troubling. I heard several people discussing this article today and we felt we should set the record straight from those who know more about this story. Although Mrs. Plomchok has made attempts to spay and neuter the cats on her property, she actually was the cause for the colony size being as large as it is. She started to feed several strays that were living in an area of her property and then freely permitted them to reproduce over the span of several years. Because the animals were unsheltered, many of them perished in the area near the house due to wild animal attacks. Other kittens were killed off by unneutered males on her property. Mrs. Plomchok was very much aware and seemed fine with this as it 'kept the numbers down'. I was told that the cats are permitted to roam freely within the house despite issues of parasite infestation, disease and exposure to cats that are not litter-trained. Although she has done some work to curb the out-of-control cat population, she was actually the reason it got to that point. I do not feel Mrs. Plomchok should be preaching 'if everyone was responsible for their space, the world would be a better place' given her dismal track record. The cats on the property are still unprotected from wild animals and there are likely several cats that are still intact. It is unfortunate that the article seems to unwittingly mislead the public about the truth behind her cat colony. However, I'm sure her crayon business has picked up.
