Just saw that the Log Cabin is closing this week. Dang!
A few weeks ago I went to my favorite restaurant Meritage. Called to get reservations for this week and it turns out they closed. Anyone know where they went? They used to be in town then moved out to Groff's Farm.
That must be one tough business.
Any ideas on a new favorite restaurant?

You've got expensive taste buds. Try Carr's or The Pressroom. That might satisfy your cravings for expensive restaurants.

They haven't been out at Groffs farm that long have they? Maybe alittle more than a year? I never really cared for the resturant, and when they said they were moving out of the city, i figured it wouldn't be long till they were done. Groffs farm isn't exactly an easy place to get to. Just surprised two very upscale resturants closed within a week of each other.

Gibraltar is my "go to" place when I want a good meal. Although, I stopped into Fenz a few months ago, and thought the food there looked very good as well. I'm going to give them a try in the near future. Its right down the street from Gibraltar.

We've always had good food and service at Gibraltar and Carr's. Let us know how it was when you try Fenz. My husband has clients who loved to go to The Log Cabin, so it looks like we'll need a replacement...

Effie Ophelia on Prince St is my personal favorite. Interesting food, open kitchen with an intimate setting, authentic 'hole in the wall' dining (in a good sense)! It's also BYOB, which is a plus in my mind.
Two drawbacks however--no reservations and no bar (so there is no place to wait), but if you call an hour or so before you want to eat they will put you on a list (if there is one) and call you when your table is available.

Yeah, we had just stopped in for a drink at the bar, and really liked the look of the food that was coming out of the kitchen. They have some really nice outdoor seating on the second floor that has a nice view out towards the ballpark.

Its called Nage, right on Rt. 1, just before the turn into Rehobeth. Its in a little strip mall, on the right (heading south) right before the Nike/Old Navy Outlet center. Its kind of hard to see, and the strip mall isn't very inviting, so it is easy to overlook. I tried it out based on someon else's recommendation, and really enjoyed it. By far, the best food in that area, and probably within 100 miles or so.

Once agian you are way crazy Artie. Tim Carr runs a great establishment and has done a lot of good for the downtown area. If because he won't kiss your !profanity! about the CC and you don't want to eat there that is great. But to campaign against his business, which pays taxes to the city and brings people into the city from places far and wide is just nuts. Eating at Carrs only makes the statement that you like good food professionaly cooked and served. It has NOTHING to do with the CC.
Everyone knows who owns the Pressroom and if people want to go there that is fine too.

I stood looking longingly in effie Friday night wanting a table, but it was not to be. First Friday traffic I guess. We ended up at Iron Hill. The Mrs. really enjoyed the salad she ordered. I had the Hawaiian tuna. It was good. Not hit me over the head fantastic, but good. I would change it up a bit, but that is just me. Side note, I prefer the tuna dishes at the Fire House much more. No one mentioned Mazzi's yet. Long story short we had reservation for this past Tuesday. I was like a kid on his way to Disney waiting for Tuesday night to roll around. Unfortunately, I felt like crap when I woke up Tuesday morning and was not about to go if I felt less than 100%.

In addition to the D&S, together or individually, they have owned the Harmony Inn, Distinctive Affairs, Center City Grille and Michael's Casual Dining. Many may remember some of those. They have also remodeled the place and brought in few favorites as well as some new.
