I am trying to email someone and keep getting this stupid error:
452 4.1.1 ... temporary failure
...I have an @comcast.net account, he does not. I sent him an email using my aol account and that one went through.
Any ideas what is going on here?
The "temporary failure" message is the biggest clue.
Comcast, as you may know, is in the process of upgrading residential accounts and individual server space allotment. Where we used to get 25 MB of space per email account, they're raising that to 1 GB per account. And in the process, they're also moving accounts, bit-by-bit, to new servers.
While they're doing this, there are going to be some service disruptions.
I've been in contact with the York call center and have taled to their engineers there to work through some problems caused by these upgrades.
If it doesn't get fixed within about 8-16 hours give them a call.
But first, try this, if you haven't already:
• Properly exit/quit all applications running on your system, then shut it down.
• Unplug the power source from your modem and any routers or wireless networking devices you may be using. Wait a minute or two.
• Restart your system. After it's completed the boot sequence...
• Restore power to your modem and any other devices.
• Start your email application and try again.
Let us know the results.
