Full Version: Does Anyone Know How To Get Something Shipped

A friend of mine needs some help. She needs to have some things picked up at a relative's home and get them shipped to her home.

Whoever would pick the things up would have to pack them up. Things like boxes of china, crystal and silver (it's an inheritance). She cannot rely on her relative to do the job for a variety of reasons.

Does anyone have any experience or know of a way to have some sort of company go to the site, wrap and box the things, and then bring them to her. It's not a full load for a truck or anywhere near that.

Thanks for any help you could suggest. She's looked into traditional shipping but they don't pack and they charge for a full truckload even if it's four or five boxes.

Call a housekeeping service, but not a franchised one like Molly Maids, etc. I've found thant sn independent housekeeper will do all manner of errands and odd jobs.

Try a moving company like Jack Treier. Movers employ packers, either in-house or contractors, and whether they cart it or ship it, you could work that out.

Thanks all. I like the moving company idea and I'm going to suggest that to her.

Having moved several times with Moving Companies I know a local one could contact one in any location and make the arrangements to have that job done. They all have packers to do an excellant job of packing fine china, etc. and they will also ship the load for her. It is not necessary to have a full load for a van either. She can even insure the load if wanted. Smart way to move good possessions..........Good luck.

I agree with this option. I have found the Treiers to be a group that will work with you in situations like this. Let me know if you need assistance with contact information... wink.gif
