Great, now all the broom thefts in the county are going to go through the roof this weekend.

Ooops.... Shouldn't have said that. Now someone is going to burn a big bowl of pubic hairs and bat schit on my door step.

My daughter has a magic wand if you want to borrow it for the event. It releases sprinkles when you cast a spell. You'll need to supply the AA batteries for lighted star though.

Does it come with a warning and legal disclaimer? My mother always used to tell me, "Be careful what you wish for. You just might get it!" (IMG:http://talkback.lancasteronline.com/style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)

Would this same amount of space be given to an evangelistic event by a Bible-believing church in the same or a nearby venue? Anywhere? (yes, anywhere, even in good old Lancaster County) I have my doubts (news outlets prove me wrong -- I dare you). I've noticed that most reporters don't get quite so hepped up about those kinds of events. Methinks that they have an agenda, too. Hmmm.
Stirring you up,

Well I don't know if it would be given to them, but LCBC (Lives Changed By Christ, previously, Lancaster County Bible Church) has a pretty big space that they earned on their own, and where more than 5000 people attend every weekend. Don't know if the broom riders can say the same, but if its proof you want go there on Saturday at 4:30 or 6:30; or Sunday at 9:00 or 11:30.

The event will probably consist of alot of symbolism and praises for nature's gifts. It's just something that is in Christianity's oldest roots. Don't worry, they won't be sacrificing animals or smiting enemies. It's all positive, but just because it's different, then people like that one shopkeeper has problems.

Be careful with stereotyping. I've been called a witch many times and wouldn't be caught dead with a broom in my hands.

Thats exactly what it will consist of symbolisms, kind of like our(christains) crosses, the book of law(bible) and praises, just like we give praise to God Our Father for his beautiful creation - the earth.
My nephew and niece-in-law are members and I love them and treat them no differently than my christain family and friends. They are not out there casting spells and sacrificing animals, those are the occults - not revealed:secret, mysterious: of relating to to supernatural agencies, their effects; or knowledge of them. That is not the group thats going to be there. They are cult - formal religious veneration: a religious system; also: its adherents : faddidh devotion(sounds like all religions): a group of persons showing such devotion(again sounds like all religions).

How many christains announce to just anyone they run into that they are christains. It usually comes out in conversations, lengthy ones. The same is said for the Pagans and Witches people, you find out their beliefs in lengthy conversations. Yes you would be excapted saying right from the start that you are a christain and practice christainanity. You would not be so quickly excepted saying you are a member of the Pagans and Witches, mainly because the way the movies and books protray them to be, but that is not how they really are.
And as a christain who loves everyone as Christ loves the church, I will be there supporting my family and their friends.

As a merchant, Lesher said, she believes the Earth Spirituality Festival is "not the image we want to portray for Stoudtburg Village."

Apparently, Ms. Lesher would rather that Stoudtburg Village be portrayed as a collection of fearful, ignorant and intolerant so-called "Christians" who have no room in their hearts for anything other than their own narrow view of the world.

Bravo for those merchants who are not so bound up by their fears and prejudices. Brightest blessings on them and all who attend the Earth Spirituality Festival.

We Christians are not fearful or ignorant. We are not afraid of those who practice wickedness. We know that we have an Advocate that is far stronger than any opposition we face here. We are not ignorant. The Bible warns of the practices that these folks engage in...spiritism, nature-worship, etc.

As for "intolerant"...yes, we are intolerant of that which God has told us in the Bible is wrong. We don't want to be associated with, or seem to condone in any way, those things which God has called sin.

As for being "bound up in our fears and prejudices"...again, there's no fear here. We are prejudiced against that which the Bible says is wrong.

Bravo to those shop owners who are taking a stand against unrighteousness, and losing a great deal of potential business, to stand up for their convictions in the face of withering criticism from an unbelieving world.

Now, let's pray that these folks will find the Author of the creation they so love. For while I share their love of nature and the created world, I understand that it is a creation of a loving Father who gave his only son so that these folks, along with me, can be saved from the sin that infests us all.

You've described a great conflict with Christianity. The old testament was about strictness and retribution, the new testament was about tolerance and love. Christians tend to choose one view or the other depending on what they want to accomplish.

I'm real curious. What would happen if the whole town were rented for a Jesus festival? Would the same spirit of tolerance be extended and defended. Maybe so. --- Maybe not?
