No substance, lots of anger. And after the guy erupts, after taking over the conversation by force, Specter declares it a "demonstration of democracy" as the guy is escorted out of the room.
Obama set the stage for losing control of the healthcare issue way back in February when he and Emmanuel excluded single-payer as an idea to be considered. It showed arrogance, it showed just how disingenuous the rest of the process would be. And then they fumbled the feature-benefits sales pitch, which never really got off the ground.
Frankly, it's a bad bill. It makes a few minor improvements and at least one major one (pre-existing conditions), but it won't cover everyone, it doesn't control price increases from insurance companies to businesses, and it doesn't eliminate the cost and bureaucracy created by this artifice called the "claim".
Lancaster had its own healthcare event yesterday, when the Astroturf tour hit Buchanan park. Healthcare reform supporters outnumbered opponents by 2 to 1--a credit to the Lancaster progressives led by Jerry Policof, who will be presenting to City Council tonight.

If the House comes out with a proposal for a public option, the Senate will probably go along. Problem is that the House is reluctant to do so because they don't really trust the Senate.

I'm still waiting to hear any type of Republican/right plan. Typical "bring nothing to the party - obstruct, obstruct, obstruct."
I'm tired of watching these Beck/Palin/Rush talking point temper tantrums at the town hall events. Now, for me, it is more about BHO winning and the other side losing.

What would have happened if people like me had shouted down Ted Darcus when he was chairman of the LCCCA? Can you imagine what kind of headlines that would have created? Instead, we treated him with respect (which unfortunately was not returned in kind).
What if we had shouted down Steve Diamantoni when he was president of City Council, and railroaded through the City purchase and guarantee of the Marriott hotel? How would that have been treated on the front page?
If shouting down people who want to discuss health care reform would be justifiable (and it's not), then how much more appropriate would it have been to shout down proponents of the taxpayer-financed hotel and convention center project?

I couldn't agree more. I don't have a whole lot of sympathy for this bill losing public support. The administration blew it, big time. This bill changes little. We could have had better.
The guy who showed up to a town hall meeting Obama was having in NH carrying a firearm was flat out stupid, though. I truly enjoy watching Chris Matthews chew up and spit out dumb people.

Personally, I own a firearm and it is for defensive purposes. However, when I carry it, no one would ever know that I had it on me. Secondly, I would NEVER carry it to a presidential event. You lose credibility just as this schmuck has done.
Where was this guy from 2001-2008 when the deficit was being jacked up by W and the republican controlled congress? Hypocrite!

As far as I'm concerned, he should have been arrested. Between the gun and the sign, what in God's name did he think his message was meant to convey?

People's freedoms are being taken away on a daily basis, and for what?... so a few can line their pockets and live larger then life?.. these elected officials don't give to sh_t's about the American people in general, and it just goes to show by their blatant disregard, by letting people sway their vote on important issues, and making laws that are constantly costing the people of America, good hard earned money out of their pockets. Not to mention their taxing people into poverty, Jobs have left this country not because it's cheaper to have some third world country do the job, but because they taxed, and cause these business's to pay high insurance premiums, and workmans comp. and what ever else they feel they could make the business's come up with to, fill the governments greedy pockets.
The problem is where does it all stop!!! The government and the insurance industry are the major problems in this country. the government is letting the insurance industry get away with murder, next is the utility company's that are a problem and from all this, all the way down the line is causing a major problem for everybody. If the Government would roll back the greediness, so that everything can become more affordable for industry and the people, then everbody would have a chance to prosper. But the way things are going with laws being make, to creat nothing but more money for government workers and government period, the problem is going to exist and it's going to get worse, until majority has nothing, and the government and the people in government have everything, which is just not right and unfair to all.
We need a revolution or government reform right now, and not days, weeks, or years from now because their way out of control and need to be stopped before it's to late.
