Specter to labor: You'll like my EFCA vote … maybe
@ 11:32 am by Aaron Blake
The Hill
Sen. Arlen Specter (D-Pa.) has told labor activists that he thinks they'll be "satisfied with my vote" on the union-organizing Employee Free Choice Act (EFCA).
"I believe that you'll be satisfied with my vote on this issue," Specter says. "And if you're not, I recognize your right, in a free society, to cast your vote as you choose. But I think you will be satisfied with my vote on this issue…"
The first and last parts of this quote suggest Specter votes for EFCA. The middle part suggests he's not sure.

That means those chiefs would make about $155,000 to $160,000 here. I admit, that's still a lot of money and far more than I make. (Of course, I'm a computer geek in Amish country. I don't expect much.) Even so, if someone has been at the job for 20 or so years, I don't think that it is so much money that it is unfair. Especailly since this is work that includes hazardous duty (unlike my own, where the biggest worry is that my fingers will cramp up).
Considering that most state employees are unionized right now, I have to wonder if the same can be said of firefighters and police now? I haven't checked.
The idea of Card Check is to make it easier to form unions without worrying as much about employer intimidation. There are pros and cons to unions and there is plenty of room for debate about their place. However, let's keep the comparisons fair.

How's this for "employer intimidation"? If it passes and my employees come to me and say we are now a union company, my response will be "Good luck finding another job! These doors are closed!". I can make more money on my own then I can with 20 employees anyway. I choose to give them jobs so they can support their families and themselves and if they choose to give me more headaches and cost the company any more money then they do now it will no longer be worth my time or efforts. If "card check" passes it will be the biggest economy killer this country has ever seen!

Go ahead and fire them, thats your right. Obviously your business isn't that big or important anyway, given all the time you spend on here. Why bother having 20 employees if you can make more money by yourself? So you have 20 employees so you can whine and moan about how much you pay them? And you don't give them jobs to help you? YOu give them jobs to feed their families? But you could get rid of them and make more money??? Obviously your not a very smart businessman if thats the type of thinking you have.
I don't know any other business owner that spends that much free time online. They have better things to do, like you know running their business. If your going to make something up, how about next time at least make it somewhat believeable

I would disagree with that. If you were really a successful business owner, the business should run itself with out the owner needing to be there.

Always acussing people of making things up and lying on here. Ever look in a mirror?
How much money does one need? I live a comfortable life and don't need more. If I chose to make more I could and with that notion 20 people would be without jobs. Simple concept to absorb one would think? Guess not?
As usual you have no idea what you are talking about!

LOL, your the one on here talking about how you don't need them anyway, that your simply doing them a favor out of the goodness of your heart. If you don't need them, then why bother having them. Because all your doing is complaining about them anyway.

Go find where I complained about my employees. For the most part I have very good employees(bad egg in every bunch as we all know) and I reward them as best I can for that.
The fact that I could do "better" elsewhere or by changing what I do makes no matter.
If they were to Unionize they would leave me no choice and they would all cry foul! That is where it becomes a matter that isn't "worth my time or efforts".
Have fun on here making statements that are false with no basis of evidence.
I'll check back in a while to see what else you come up with. I have a meeting to go to.
