If you've ever seen the show, you will know exactly what he was thinking. She is a royal beyotch!

"JON MINUS NINE"
(This wasn't mine...I saw it on another board and thought it was pretty funny)

Saw it in a tabloid today, although the photo on the cover looked less than romantic. Not that tabloids would ever blow something out of proportion, so clearly they must have a couple of still shots of Jon and the mystery gal (guy?) "engaged".

Actually, I think this will revitalize the show and create a spike in ratings. Lets face it, the family gets by and lives on the money generated by this show. Very comfortably I might add. If the show goes away, so does their golden egg. I suspect the ratings have been slipping as of late. I'd imagine that the move to the million dollar plus mansion has taken some of the "charm" out of the show, and may be turning some viewers off. Also, there seem to be 2 or 3 other shows about families with way too many kids that are kind of taking away from the uniqueness of JK+8. Because of all of these reasons, and seeing how Kate is on the show, one can't help but wonder if this whole thing was staged or set up to revitalize interest in the show and make sure they can continue. Without the show, how will that afford a Million dollar house? Eventually the show will need to deal with this issue. I bet that particular show will be very highly rated. This whole thing will probably get them at least another season or two.

I don't know--I don't think this would be staging, unless they are completely done making money from the church speaking engagement/Christian book circuit. They've painted themselves as the Christian parents for the 21st century, so an affair is definitely not helpful to that image.

Thats a good point. I'm guessing it is a bit of a catch 22. How many of these places are gonig to pay them to speak once the show is off the air? That being said, I'm sure they can spin it into a lecture on reconciliation, forgiveness, and the rebirth of a marriage. This will help them relate with the audiance. It becomes a story of overcoming life's greatest difficulties. They could even throw in that it was their faith that helped them through the ordeal and they couldn't have done it without Jesus.

But the shows are available on DVD so they'll probably earn royalties from that, too. I saw one in the store the other day and thought, "Who the heck would buy that so they could watch the entire season over and over?" But amazingly, people are buying the DVDs.

Yes, but for how long? Once the show is off the air, and they stop getting publicity, I'm guessing people will stop buying DVDs. I'd love to know what kind of deal they have with TLC for this kind of thing. Whether this is a stunt or not, I'm guessing it will bring a lot of "new" viewers to the series, which will probably spur sales of DVDs for old seasons. I can't imagine how much cash flow they must need to pay for that house and all of those kids. Especially as the kids are getting older now.

I read the US magazine article and I do want to express my opinion on that: Deanna's brother is not"helping" his sister at all with the comments he reportedly shared there. My impression is he is exploiting her situation for his own personal gain. Maybe she's in on that and plans to profit financially as well, or maybe he just hung her out to dry. Cripes, she's just 23 and already she's getting dragged through the mud by her own kin!

I haven't read the story yet, so I don't even know fully what is being alleged or what the evidence is. Even if it wasn't a stunt, I still don't expect she will kick him to the curb. I think they'll turn lemons into lemon aide and end up profiting from the whole affair (pun intended). Ultimately, I think this will save the series and get them a few more seasons. I really think the show lost its appeal when they moved to the million dollar house. It really seems like Kate is getting more and more materialistic as the show goes on, trying to grab as much money as she can as fast as she can. Jon doesn't seem all that comfortable or enthused about living life that way.
