Conservatives love this country too much to abandon it, even when it turns on us.

You know what, I've never heard a republican make a "moving out of the country" because of an election, yet I hear it often from the dems.

Actually, I do know a family who claimed they'd be moving if Obama won. It's OK, though, I don't think anyone will miss them, not that any other country would have them anyway. (IMG:http://talkback.lancasteronline.com/style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

It's really amazing to see people not "getting" the meaning of Obama's win tonight. This is a truly amazing, defining moment in America's history, and it seems, sadly, that quibbling over whose taxes will go up has eclipsed the magnitude of Obama's election for many of the people contributing here. And that people are actually still peddling that he's an Arab or a Muslim is just sickening. He's neither, and the fact that people feel comfortable spewing the "He ain't white, and he got a funny name" point of view (very thinly veiled with just slightly better grammar) is really sad. Anyone who keeps mentioning his middle name or with whose name his name rhymes are either of low intelligence or they're racists -- or both.

Just accept it -- despite what you've been told, he's not going to raise your taxes unless you have more than $250,000 in taxable income. How many of you will that even apply to? He's in favor of Socialism? Hardly. We already have tax brackets, with higher-income people paying more, so the concept of "spreading the wealth" is not new. He's not going to take your guns. He goes to church. He loves his wife and kids. He went to Harvard and didn't graduate to go run a corporation or become some zillionaire CEO -- he went to work in city neighborhoods to make a difference. How many of us can say that our life's work has been about helping people? He loves this country -- and his election means that we can truly tell our kids that ANYONE can grow up and become president. Until now, that was really only true for little white boys, and look at the mess the latest little white boy and his pals have made!

Tonight we've turned an important, positive page in this country, and anyone who doesn't see and appreciate that has to look deep inside themselves and ask why -- and what they're really afraid of.

You know . . this has been an incredibly long election. Sitting here reading over these posts (some good, some just plain hateful). I am very proud to have stood in line and voted for Barack Obama.

The other thing I'm proud of is the fact that my children really didn't even see a black man running, they just saw a better man for the job. Not to miss the historical aspect of how far this country has come, but I love the fact that my kids are growing up with a different perspective than I could.

I am thrilled!

I don't know about anyone else but I work hard for my money and so do my parents. Yea we are very well off and I want to keep it that way. I don't want my money going to some lazy !profanity! with no job, my dad worked hard to build up his business.

Do some research and think.
If you're complaining about paying taxes, think.
We all pay taxes--all of us.

You're no better than anyone else.

THE VIEW....recap

Elizabeth really softened up on her view of Obama and got teary eyed! Overnight she seems to have 'accepted' him as our pres. (despite all the full force judgment she used on him in the past w/re: to Rev Wright & anything she picked up on fox news.)

Whoopi said it now feels like she "can put her suitcase down", Shari started crying.....it got v. emotional. I can't as a white woman knock them. I can't profess to feel things the way an African American can feel but I feel some impact. And it IS touching.

If we can just be more about loving one another rather than tearing ea other apart.......and it includes the tabloids w/the celebritites too, I think.

They are mouth runners and would have lots of help for packing. (IMG:http://talkback.lancasteronline.com/style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)

Actually in context with taxes as stated above, I am better than some. That some would be the worthless drain on society kid poppin' lazy people who rely on MY working so they can have my money.

I had to have a drug screen test to get hired and am subject to random screenings now. Those who receive MY money should have drug tests before the money is redistributed to them.

There are very few things I'm "bitter" about, this is certainly one of them.

Some recipients of my redistributed wealth are living better than I am. They don't have to worry where their next meal is coming from. If I get sick or hospitilized which has happened, I don't get paid. They still get my redistributed money regardless of their health or ability to work.

Don't get me wrong. Social programs are needed for those that NEED it. However, the social programs are very much like the "mortgage" industry and have gone unchecked for too long.

Okay off my box now.

Repub Conservatives "turned on" their own party--based upon election results.
Take a good look at some things that derailed the movement.

Here's one: The shift toward the Religious Right, which isolated many moderates and contributed to their migration to more moderate positions.

Vote by Ideology
McCain 39% / 78% (Mod/Conserv)
Obama 60% / 20% (Mod/Conserv)

Gee! I could have seriously considered voting for the John McCain that delivered the concession speech. Where was he during the campaign?

The Dow dropped 500 points today. I guess technically that's change from yesterday.
