I am single. However, I would never respond to a newspaper ad.

Lancaster really doesn't have decent venues for singles. Marion Court Room and occasionally Symposium are okay but other than those establishments there really isn't anything decent for singles in this area.

Sometimes you have a few extra minutes, coffee still to drink and the weekend section. Sort of like looking at the menu and not ordering. Or reading some of these and hope your kids don't respond. Or worse...hoping it's not your husband putting the ad in the paper!

We do not get a daily newspaper, so when I buy one at the newstand, I tend to read it front to back. Did you not read all those valentine wishes just in case there was one there for you? I did not read that add in the "singles" column, but I would suppose it made more than one married woman do a fast review of life

Any wife who is suspicious shouldn't have any trouble setting him up if she's even a little bit clever. What did the ad say beyond his marital status and wanting a discreet woman? Did he expound on his attributes?

When I worked on the newspaper side of media the 'singles' agreement was one of my responsibilities. It was the source of many calls from readers who took exception to the content of certain ads. Often about ads like the one that is the topic of this thread. My 'favorite' call was about an ad somebody listed, "(person) with venereal warts seeks (person) with same". A number of calls came in complaining about the ad. One caller, however, did not have any exception to the content of the ad but did not like the fact that it was listed under 'Best of Harrisburg'. While defending the 'best' of Harrisburg the caller felt it was a 'conspiracy' by the paper to stick it to Harrisburg.

then put an ad in the cheaters section....not the singles. Or maybe add a "looking for boinking buddy" section.

And it's obvious the guy's unattractive and stupid. He if was "hot" he'd have women hitting on him at work or anywhere. If he was smart, he'd realize to be discreet means NOT advertising in the paper.
