Picking on the man AGAIN? I remember when our son played football at CV and Cantafio was the coach. He knew how to get the job done and took a sincere interest in his players and their families. His records speak for him. Leave the man alone so he can do the job he is hired to do. Wilson's loss will only be another school's gain. Go for it Jim and GOOD LUCK IN YOUR FIGHT! "let him do the job he was hired to do" ...unless he was cooking the books while he was doing it (or knew that someone else was). In which case, he should be fired.

I went to CV too, and had Cantafio as a teacher, and thought he was a rude, slimy jerk, who thought he was above the rules because he could win football games, until someone got a lawyer.

I'm sure he'll just sue, settle, and then move on to coach at some other district that values their football team over everything else, until the next scandal breaks.

If this is indeed the case, why did CV ever let him go? Their current coach cannot win hardly any games......so why not get this guy back??

I went to CV as well and completely agree with you.

Ditto on that! I had him for class also. I remember him telling the class that he could do whatever he wanted and they would never fire him. He asked us "Do you know why?" And then he responded it was because he was the best football coach there was. I'm guessing he was wrong. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif)

Did you know that his wife was once a student at CV, a cheerleader?

Yep. And that they were married shortly after she was legally able to do so? I did know that one. And also had heard that, while he still maintains a residence in Leola, his son has been transferred to another district so he won't "have to play for that $_)#@! Novak."

(Speculation alert) The rumor mill also had it that there were some issues with the last place he coached at, but I have heard/seen nothing concrete on that.

This is really crazy. What exactly is Jim Cantafio being suspended/replaced for? Jim Cantafio may not have ever been the most popular man around, but is there ANYONE who can HONESTLY say that he has not always been an incredibly dedicated football coach and teacher? Anybody who knows Jim, has been coached by him, or has had their kids coached by him, knows how much of his own personal time and attention that he gives to his job. He gives individual help to his students/players and serves as a role model. In 25 years, I have never seen the man drink or smoke. Cantafio motivates his players and leads them to achieve levels of play they may not have thought they were capable of. Some people work just to earn a paycheck. Cantafio loves his job.

So, again, what exactly is Jim Cantafio being suspended/replaced for? Whoever it is that is digging for something to get even with Jim, fulfill a personal vendetta, whatever it is, shame on you. Are you prepared for someone to start digging through your emails? Some of the rumors and suggestions are outrageous, stretched, untrue, or laughable (unless, of course, you are the man whose life you are fooling around with.) Don't believe everything you hear.

LoL are you by any chance related to the man? Awful quick to come to his defense. Last time I checked, there are plenty of great people who smoke and or drink..and plenty of bad people who do not smoke or drink...you should've left that out, it killed any chance you had of making a decent case for the guy. This guy was never one to abide by the rules, namely the rule that says "while you teach physical education/coach football at Conestoga Valley, you may not engage in fondling female students in the training room for any reason". He thought he was above all the rules and now he's getting what he's had coming to him.

No matter what you think about him personally, the whole thing is shady. For starters they won't say what he was accused of doing, which means that they probably don't have anything real concrete. Second one school board member abstained due to a conflict of interest, yet he never said what that conflict was, also one of the school board members phoned in his vote. The whole thing sounds pretty suspcious if you ask me.

Don't you think that most of the quietness has to do with lawsuits?? I would think that they would want to handle whatever the situation is with caution....especially considering the nature of all that has happened in the past.

I went to CV too, my sister was in the same class as Cantafio's wife. I graduated in 1991 and then there were rumors that he was "messing" around with one of the female trainers. I also had him for health class. He was an egotistical a**. He always said that the best place for females was at home taking care of kids and cooking their men dinner. One day during class my pen flew out of my hand headed his direction when he made a comment like that. He needed to be fired. He doesn't need to be teaching anyone his warped ways.
