| Room for improvement By Jason Guarente 09-27-2005 Lancaster New Era As soon as they heard they were getting a team, Lancaster baseball fans started wondering about the Atlantic League. Some were skeptical of independent baseball. Others were willing to give it a chance. |

Drug testing, drug testing, drug testing.
Not only are steroids used by players in the league but so are other 'hard' drugs. The league does nothing because it costs money to test players. GIven the fact that Nashua and Bridgeport had major issues meeting their payroll options, the league must mandate testing. A urine sample usually costs between $40-$100 and this is steep for the league. The league says they test, but it is hard to believe that no player has ever tested positive since the league started in 1998.
