Rep. Charles Rangel, the gravelly voiced dean of the New York State congressional delegation, launched a blistering attack on Vice President Dick Cheney Friday night, calling him a "sick man" who was unfit to lead.
In a rambling interview on NY1, the Harlem Democrat also said Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld is the "guy who's running the country" - not Cheney or President George W. Bush.
"Sometimes I don't think Cheney is awake enough to know what's going on," Rangel said. "He's a sick man, you know. He's got heart disease but the disease is not restricted to that part of his body. He grunts a lot so you never really know what he's thinking."
Rangel, the ranking member of the House Ways and Means Committee, made his comments when asked if he thought Bush's extended vacation in Crawford, Texas, was inappropriate.
Rangel said he did and then launched into his tirade about Cheney.
"Why do you think people are spending so much time praying for Bush's health?" he asked as the show's host, Davidson Goldin, sat stunned. "If he ever leaves and Cheney's in charge there's not very much else to pull together our nation."
In June, Rangel sparked a political firestorm when he suggested the war in Iraq was "as bad as the Holocaust."
"It's not the American people or the U.S. Congress who are emboldening the enemy, It's the failed policy of this president — going to war without a strategy, going to war prematurely."

It's okay. You can come out of your closet. 99% of the people who were posting at that time know who you are. You are trying really hard, and doing a good job at behaving yourself this time I might add, but you made a couple key mistakes that gave you away. But we are a forgiving bunch and give people 2nd chances (and sometimes 3rd chances). If it hurts you that bad, I will try and behave myself also and call you by your new name.

"War is an ugly thing, but not the ugliest of things. The decayed and
degraded state of moral and patriotic feeling, which thinks nothing is
worth war, is much worse. A man who has nothing for which he is willing
to fight -- nothing he cares about more than his own personal safety
--is a miserable creature who has no chance of being free unless made
and kept so by the exertions of better men than himself "
John Stewart Mill

No fixation here. Just pointing out the truth as you think you do about politics. Speaking of lying, what are you guys afraid of? Would you miss that daily lash out of typing against the right wingers on this forum? I've won court cases with less evidence than I have of some posters being the same on this board. Just think, if you could have controlled yourselves the 1st time there would be no need to cover up who you are now. Hey, how about you make 2 screen names and you could actually have more people to blast Bush or better yet, you could debate yourself!

Announcing the newest form of discrimination from the Angry Left... drum roll please... ta ta ta... HEALTH DISCRIMINATION! Yep, the defenders of the disenfranchised put down put upon down and out person (who they would rescue with tax dollars) have decided that it's OK though to use the past health issues of an elected American to somehow discredit them?! I think we've heard it all now!
