I found it suspicious when they decided to crack down on the Hotel Brunswick immediately after the Marriot opened. Therefore, I'm not really suprised by this stunt.

Patrick Hopkins looked mighty uncomfortable explaining this mess.

I'm waiting for the other shoe to drop.

The reporter stated there might be more on tomorrows newscast.

Stay tuned!

Got the election behind us, now we can run this story we've been sitting on for how many weeks. Unbelievable. (IMG:http://talkback.lancasteronline.com/style_emoticons/default/dry.gif) Does anyone else see a huge conflict of interest with the city both owning the Marriot and enforcing code and licensing requirements concerning it and it's competition?

Patric Hopkins surely looked a bit dry mouthed while giving his explanation. Did he get caught covering for Gray? Or is this a Concention Center GATE? How many are involved and to what extent? How much money does the city stand to lose? The Merriot knows the rules & laws, why don't they have to comply and face fines for each time a room or space was rented? The amount they would have to pay, probably is more than what the city would collect from noncompliant landlords.

So Artie, how about you give it a try; rent out some space to someone and see how long the city takes to make you a priority! (IMG:http://talkback.lancasteronline.com/style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)

Like every other hotel in town that was grandfathered under the previous ordinance?

Jose Urdaneta was interviewed by phone by WGAL. He apparenlty believes it isn't necessary to hold the Marriott to the same standard as other rental properties because the Marriott is new and already inspected. He wants to re-word the ordinance to cover the situation.

The law is the law and no one should be excused from obeying the law.

How convenient that this comes to light after the election. (IMG:http://talkback.lancasteronline.com/style_emoticons/default/mad.gif)

Again, there's a huge conflict of interest; The entity that owns the Marriot should not be in charge of enforcing ordinances pertaining to it or it's competition. Checks and balances, anyone?

No defense, no excuses. WGAL handled this properly.
